Every once in a while, I end up with a stack of studies that don’t quite fit anywhere. Some are developmental studies I made while working through ideas for a larger or more refined painting. Others are plein air studies created for quick painting submissions. Most have never been offered for sale.

Normally, these would wind up in an archive box, tucked away and forgotten. I hate that idea. I’d much rather see them find a home with someone to enjoy them.

So, for the month of October, I’m having an October Studio Sale. I’m offering a selection of original studies at ridiculously low prices as a way to share a little of my creative process and make room for what’s next.

Here’s the deal:

  • $85 per study, plus $15 shipping and handling.
  • Buy three or more and the deal is $75 each. Of course I’m happy to ship them together.

The studies vary in size and are painted on a variety of surfaces, so each is a little different. Keep in mind that most were made as part of the process of developing more finished work. They aren’t necessarily polished, final paintings—and that’s part of what makes them interesting.

I think there’s something special about seeing how a painting begins: the experiments, the decisions, the searching, and the ideas that may or may not make it into the final work. These studies offer a small glimpse into that process.

The sale runs through October only, and once these pieces find homes, they’re gone.
